PROJECT: Parametricism: Effect & Affect
YEAR: 2008
TYPE: University Project
Starting with Patrik Schumacher's 'Parametricism as Style' manifesto this project looked to explore advanced design strategies using parametric techniques.
The main theme for this introductory investigation is 'architectural effect and affect'. In terms of architecture these terms can be used to describe a technique or process for generating form (the 'effect') and the resulting consequence on the perception or experience (the 'affect') of a space that comes about from this technique.
Through studying various natural adaptive systems, a series of 'effects' have been observed documented, tested and translated into architectural proposals.
