Disseratation examining the cultural identity of the East End through history and architecture and urbanisms' role in the decline of East End culture.
Part 1, "The Myth of the East End" tracks the changing image of the East End as seen through popular culture whilst the second section "The London Docklands Story" takes an in depth study into the affect the London Docklands development had on the changing of the social fabric and attitudes towards the East End. The final part looks at how the current proposals (Lower Lea Valley, Stratford City & Olympic schemes) will alter the East End, evaluating the method of regeneration and legacy proposals.
